Born in Woolwich and educated at Crown Woods Comprehensive, my first job was with British Transport Advertising, followed by a decade in office equipment sales, until a move with my wife and two sons to Brisbane opened up creative ambitions as radio copywriter, travel film writer, children's author, TV sitcom and BBC writer/broadcaster. Returning to England in 1997 I wrote three novels and produced a series of films for schools featuring famous children's authors, including the then current Children's Laureates Jacqueline Wilson, Anne Fine and Anthony Browne, filmed in their homes and on school visits. Fulltime voice-over ran alongside, then a series of Aussie picture books illustrated by childhood friend Jim Robins. Our sixth, The Kangaroo Who Couldn't Believe It', is available globally from Feb. 2023. I live in an old farm cottage in the Weald of Kent, 25 miles south of my birthplace, still
