British author Richard Platt has been writing books since 1983, completing more than 80 published titles. His children’s books have won prizes, including a Smarties Silver, and a Blue Peter award. One, “Incredible Cross Sections” (DK) was chosen by the Guardian as one of the three greatest children's books of the 1990s. Richard is not purely a children’s author: Tempus published his "Smuggling in the British Isles" in 2007 and he has also written restaurant reviews, corporate reports, televison scripts and museum interpretation.
